Uncle Davey is fifty years old today. His site is http://www.spripting.com.
I started reading the site in the late nineties. He ran a company that was made an outliner / web site creation program, called Frontier. I used it to make a couple of websites and loved to go to his site to figure out how to do it.
He wrote articles about the software that really made sense. It talked about the relationship between humans and computers. He detailed what computers were good at and what us humans were good at. His ideas were really insightful and really spoke to me. I understood what he was talking about. He seemed to see the world like I did - it was a rare moment in those days.
I stopped building sites and I lost touch with much of the discussion on his site. But I scanned it to see the social / community ideas he was talking about. The technology is sometimes lost on me, but I still love to hear him talk the social / human issues at hand.
He seems to get it. And he shares it with us. Thanks Dave!
Happy Birthday -
